The renovation project for this apartment, designed for a middle-aged couple, stems from the need to renew the spaces, bringing new life and functionality to the rooms while maintaining theconnection with the history and familiar objects to which the owners wereparticularly attached.
The main focus of the project was thedivision between the living area and the sleeping area, making the home morefunctional and aligned with contemporary needs.
One of the central solutions adopted wasthe use of a striking bookshelf, which not only serves as a storage element butbecomes the visual and architectural heart of the living area. This bookshelfwas designed to fluidly separate the kitchen and the living room, creating adivision that is both functional and permeable. Its open lines allow visualcontinuity between the two spaces, offering sightlines that shift depending onthe viewing angle.
The bookshelf, enhanced by wallpaper, thusbecomes a sort of "curtain" that allows glimpses of the kitchen or the dining room to be seen without fullyclosing off the space, ensuring a harmonious dialogue between the two areas.
The sleeping area is organized to fosterstrong interactionsbetween the new contemporary furnishings and the family’s historic pieces, creating a balance between innovationand tradition that reflects the personality and needs of the owners.
The apartment is further enriched by thepresence of a collection of artworks by Giacomo Zornetta, an emerging Milaneseartist whose creations add an exclusive touch to the surroundings.
The project has successfully reinterpretedthe home’s interior spaces with elegance andfunctionality, transforming it into an open, welcoming, and harmoniousenvironment. The interaction between new and pre-existing furniture has allowedthe link to the past to remain alive, offering the couple a home that not onlymeets current needs but also reflects their history and lifestyle.
