Theredesign of the BIFFI store in Bergamo was envisioned to honor and elevate thehistorical legacy of this iconic space while infusingit with new contemporary vitality. The main challenge was to modernize thespace while preserving some of the distinctive elements that have defined thestore's visual identity over the years, such as the yellow glass shelves andthe red elevator, which remain key features in the new concept. These twocolors not only evoke the store's historical memory but also create a dynamicdialogue with other architectural elements, establishing a refined andcontemporary atmosphere. The selection of materials and colors, along with afocus on light and reflections, havetransformed the space into a sensory experience where past and presentblend into a sophisticated and timeless aesthetic. The overall concept of theproject was developed around the idea of maintaining a "neutral box":a basic space that acts as a backdrop, to which new elements have been addedthat integrate and work synergistically with the pre-existing ones. Materialssuch as reflective resin, satin steel, veneers, glass, and lacquered wood were meticulously selected to interactwith light, creating a dynamic play of reflections throughout the environment. The resin floor, complementedby the satin steel walls, serves as the focal point of a reflective system thataccentuates both the contemporary and historical elements. Thiscombination of materials generates an effect of depth and light, where eachcorner of the store changes depending on the time of day and customerinteraction. Nori Studio sought to pay homage to the store's history whileoffering a vision oriented toward the future, where tradition and innovationcoexist in perfect harmony.
